On November 12th, 2016 I witnessed history when Conor McGregor won the UFC Lightweight Championship and became the first UFC fighter to be champion in two weight divisions simultaneously. I was first introduced to Conor McGregor a few years ago when he entered the UFC. At that time it was not apparent he will be on the road to greatness but what did stand out to me was his impeccable sense of style. At the press conference where fighters wore t-shirts to meet with the press, McGregor made a bold decision to stand out by wearing a full suit and spoke with the confidence of a champion. Since that time, he has been on a terror in the fight game where he openly predicted an extraordinary path of stunning victories to become a two weight world champion.
Everyone has their own opinion on Conor McGregor; I see him as inspiration. Beyond the bigger than life persona, McGregor is a man who not only work harder than his competition but also took calculated risks to achieve his success. He is not popular among his peers as he regularly made brash statements predicting devastating victories against his opponents. After he delivers the victory, McGregor will raise the stakes and demand greater opportunities that will bring him closer to his goal. He is the perfect example of the law of attraction as he believed he was a two weight world champion the day he entered the organization. To quote the McGregor, he went "from nothing, to something, to everything".
See my past blog post on Conor McGregor being the most stylish man in the fight game. After witnessing McGregor accomplish his dream, it reminds me to stop being complacent and enter more uncomfortable scenarios to accomplish my personal goals.
