A week has past since I launched the Simple Style Manual! It's been a learning experience so far and I am constantly finding new ways to improve this website. Any suggestions are welcome. Now back to the topic:
Attainable style does not simply mean achievable fashion. It also means "affordable"; apparel that will fit any man's budget. I live and breath this idea. If you looked into the Simple Style Manual, you will notice that I provided a "target price range". Most of my collection is made up pieces in the lower part of the price range. Lower price clothing can be stylish and of good quality. The main thing you give up is brand recognition that comes with high price labels. Unless your goal is to let people know how much you dropped on a t-shirt, my preference are apparel with muted or no logos. A pair of jeans that fits well is stylish without a logo, so why pay the premium for it?
To provide some examples, I have included photos of two different outfits:
Above is a simple grey crewneck sweatshirt with brown slim fit jeans. Price breakdown as follows:
I'd like to focus on the standard grey suit in this photo. It's an off the rack wool suit and it only cost $100. Keep in mind it cost me an additional $15 to tailor the pants to achieve a slimmer fit.
The message here is apparel can be stylish and inexpensive. We need to focus on style and fit while ignoring brand names. As I grow this website, I will provide reports on stores that offers style at a reasonable price, bargain sales , and tips on how to pick out apparel that screams attainable style.
