Variety, Fit, and Reasonable Price:
As most of you know, I preach simple attainable style. That means with a sharp eye (and tailoring), you can pick up stylish pieces for an inexpensive price. That said, suits with reasonable price tags often come in limited colors, patterns, and material. It is possible to pick a bold fabric and make a nice unique suit for $250 CAD if you are travelling through Asia. It is a much harder thing to do in North America.
Once you own well fitted grey and blue suits, it may be time to venture out into something more distinguished. If you do not have the luxury of travelling to Asia, Suit Supply may be a great choice. For years, I have heard from many sources about this store where people rave about the large selection of style, solid fitting, and reasonable pricing. Starting at $399 USD/$429 CAD, it is worth checking it.
I will be going for a short trip to Las Vegas this weekend. Despite the desert heat, Suit Supply has a store there. It will be my first visit to the store, my plan is to spend a good amount of time looking through their selection. I will report back on my findings.
Brogue on Brogue on Brogue:
Anyone who knows me knows I love beautiful dress shoes. High quality shoes with an elegant design is worth every penny. Here's your chance to get one of my favorite brand of classic shoes at a bargain price. Allen Edmonds is having an anniversary sale until April 28th and the prices of some of their shoes have dropped significantly. As a big AE fan who is well aware of their pricing, a sale like this does not happen often so I encourage you to have a look. The picture above is the McAllister Wingtip Oxfords. Premium calfskin leather upper, wingtip design with brogue styling, and Goodyear welted construction, this is a classic shoe that will draw countless compliments. With many sizes and colors available and at$259 USD (originally $365), this is one of the lowest price points you will encounter.
Other shoes worth checking out are:
- Madison Avenue Oxfords at $197 USD
- Lexington Oxfords at $239 USD
If you are interested in owning a new pair of brogues but are on a budget, we have a more affordable option. The Bay is having a sale this weekend including their shoes.
Florsheim makes a quality shoe that has calfskin leather upper, double leather soles, and a classic long wing design with brogue styling. At the sale price of $135, it is worth considering.
Sportcoats, shorts, and more:
Other great sales happening this weekend are:
- J. Crew: 30% off selected styles and up to 50% off sale items. Use the code BIGSALE.
- EXPRESS: 40% off almost everything.
- J. Crew Factory: 50% off everything.

As I was walking around in downtown Vancouver in my suit (thank you to my tailor who made it fit so well), I exchanged nods with several well dressed gentlemen as we crossed paths. There is a saying, "game recognize game", and it's very easy to pick out the guys who have good style out of a crowd. At this moment, the percentage of well dressed men in my hometown is small although it's growing. My goal is to make head turning style attainable for every guy who wants it.
Instagram is a great app for many things, one of which is displaying the strong fashion movement being carried out by men around the world. With so many men with impeccable style sharing their looks on Instagram, who needs magazines for fashion trends anymore? I encourage you all to use Instagram as a resource for men's fashion.

It was a sunny day in Vancouver, I can't wait for the summer days where I can be relaxing in shorts. If you are lucky enough to live in a warm climate city like LA, you may be wearing shorts already. Unlike my younger days where I didn't know better and wore surfboard/basketball shorts outside its natural habitat (beach/basketball court), today I prefer shorts with pockets that are versatile in style as I go about my business in the city.
Buying the right pair of shorts is not difficult, it's all about the length. Aim to buy shorts that stop above your knee cap when your legs are straight. Yes, this does mean when you sit your thighs will show; embrace the relaxed look. With today's designs, buying according to your waist size (in my case 30) for shorts with 9" inseam will get you the perfect length for the average guy. For tall men with long legs, you may want to choose 11" inseam.
Have fun with your shorts and add some color to your selection. Besides your neutral color shorts, add some bright color shorts to your wardrobe. If you are fair-skinned, I suggest dark red and green. For men with dark complexion, most colors look great on you but you may want to try something edgier like pink and purple just because you can.
Today only, J. Crew Factory has a sale where you can get an additional 30% off and free shipping with the promo code: JOKES. With less than 4 hours remaining, I recommend checking out the sale and buying a pair of shorts for the summer. Lots of sizes are available. The price work out to be between $25 to $30 after the additional 30% off. The images in this post link directly to the style of shorts that caught my eye. Act fast, the sale is over at 12 am tonight.
