WHO IS DEXTER WOO?
As you may have already guess, I am of Asian decent. I am an average guy with a not so average eye for detail. Most of my days are spent working my job in finance. This is how I honed my knowledge in business wear. Time living in Japan immersed in its diverse fashion culture influenced my view on streetwear. Today, I can effortlessly look sharp for any occasion.
My style mantra is this:
"Looking stylish can be simple and inexpensive".
It was not always this way. In high school I never stood out; I was clueless and had no personal style. Hence I enlisted my sister to shop on my behalf. She had a talent to make me look like the average Asian guy. Not until I started making an effort & observed people who regularly receive compliments on their style did I understand the small differences that distinguish the stylish from the basic.
After taking many risks and spending countless hours cross-examining different styles and why it works, I have developed an understanding to what it takes to be dapper. I will like to share this knowledge with the men across the world. Our appearance matters and it can be the difference in getting the job or meeting that special someone. Let's put our best foot forward and make every piece of apparel do more than cover our body. Let's strive to look distinguished.
WHAT'S THE PURPOSE?
My knowledge in fashion is not rocket science and anyone can develop it. The goal here is not to be the top 5% of fashionable men. To stand out among your peers, you only need to be consistently above par.
As men, it is never easy to reach out to our stylish friends for help. It's just not the "manly" thing to do. I have watched friends use the trial & error method to emulate outfits of mine instead of just asking me for advice. Sometimes it works, most times small details are missed and they never fully achieve the desired look.
The Simple Style Manual is an anonymous way for men to improve their fashion game. Advice will be provided for each piece of essential apparel. The website aims to do the following:
- keep it simple.
- keep it attainable (avoid premium designer brands).
- provide real life examples
Today's fashion blogs are not helpful for the average man. It's full of gibberish that requires the reader to comb through to find the advice that can help improve their fashion game. I am not here to tell you the history behind each piece of clothing and my opinion on why fedoras are back in style. My goal is to equip every man with an accessible guide so from here on, every piece of clothing he buys is stylish and relevant. The Simple Style Manual is here to help men develop the knowledge to effortless be stylish and reap the rewards of being bold.
